Sadly, the word "Christian" has been so loaded with negative connotations by those who are anything but Christian, but insist they speak for God. Fundamentalists of every ilk have made the word one which causes many (myself included) to cringe. The main impression one would get of Christians from such people is the importance of sitting in judgment of everyone, frequently! They have the very words from God to back them up (well those they find useful in feeling superior to the majority of the human race). The words from the bible that most accurately describes the consequences of those "saved" souls who speak for God is the shortest verse in the King James Bible: Jesus wept. John 11:35
As a consequence of the despicable actions of these possessors of the keys to the pearly gates; I simply call myself a follower of Jesus of Nazareth. To use an oft quoted expression "Jesus and I are fine, its some of his friends that trouble me".
