I remember suffering through those awful standardized tests in school. No one ever thought I might learn differently from others. The result was I felt inferior and "less than" my peers. It wasn't until college that I discovered I was "able" and excelled at academics. Why do we stifle the marvelous diversity in learning styles. Is it that our schools seek the easy way out and insist on the square peg fitting into the round hole?
When I left school, I always though that I was dire at Math. But I have come to learn, I just don't do standardized tests well. I am actually quite good at Math
ReplyDeleteThe same happened to me! Sister Elizabeth (a real tyrant) convinced me I was not good at math and it stayed with me until college. Aced my advanced math course and loved it! Goes to show how what we say and do can mean so much to others.
