As one who seeks.....

........to follow Jesus, I honor the bible above all inspirational sources. This said, I am neither a literalist nor fundamentalist. As with any source filtered through human instruments, the bible contains both messages of sublime inspiration and a lot of hooey. We enter the dance with the Divine by seeking to know the difference. To say the bible is inerrant is to worship the text instead of the Author of all life and love. Jesus wrote nothing, and his words are lost to us for all time except in eternity when we shall know as completely as we are known. Real faith forces us to struggle with the nature and meaning of truth. Don't worry, God knows we are human and will frequently get it all wrong. At the very least we are commanded not to harm others by stepping on toes as we dance or failing to recognize the dignity of others in the midst of our struggle. I don't always agree with Dan Savage, but here I think he's spot on!
